Bathroom Redo!

Last year, we moved from a brand new house with not a lot of upgrades needed to a house built in the 80s that needs basically everything updated.  We decided to start with the guest bathroom since this would be Adam's first big project and could kind of be his "practice" one.  He really had no idea what he was doing, but I must say, I think he did an awesome job!  There were only a few "oops" moments, but nothing major.

This is the "before" bathroom.  Old cabinets, boring tiles.

In progress...the entire walls and tub got ripped out.  I had no idea that this much goes into these kinds of projects!  I think Adam had the most fun busting up and sawing apart the tub.  I don't have a picture, but his least favorite part was being told that we'd have to pay $700 to have the plumbing fixed after he broke a pipe.  Luckily the plumber just explained to him how to fix the issue himself.  I don't know how much it ended up costing him to do it, but it was definitely less than $700!

Proud of his finished product!  (The shower curtain is going to be replaced.)

The shower.

The floor.

I think it looks pretty professional!

The painted cabinets (my contribution to this project.  We also painted some molding and put it around the mirror to make it look like a frame.  I found this idea and Adam actually carried it out.  (I will take credit for painting those though.  I also painted the walls-that's about all the talent that I have.)  We would have loved a new countertop too, but we'll just deal with the same one for now.

We have not added up our receipts yet, and while I'm sure we spent more than we thought we would, I know we spent less than we would have if we had paid someone to do it.  (Good thing I have a cheap (or maybe he would like to be called frugal) husband.  We're already trying to figure out what his next project will be...
